Air-Frame Compression:

Air-Frame 100 provides standard Encryption and Compression. When using compression Air-Frame provides the following performance characteristics:

Text	Compression can improve throughtput by a factor of 8 for text data. Text is almost any non-image data e.g. raw text, word processed documents, files (including database files).
Image	Image data is almost always compressed. The compression unit never creates compressed blocks that are larger than the origonal. Little if any performance improvement will be obtained when handling heavy graphic content. However since the compression unit uses a hardware accelerator no overheads are incurred.
Average	The average compression over a wide selection of customers typically results in a 1:1.8 - 1:2.2 increase in data throughput.
Overheads	The compression and encryption unit uses a hardware accelerator. There is no degradation in performance when using compression with Air-Frame 100 as is typically experienced with software based compression schemes.
