LAN Power

All Air-Frame models are equipped for LAN Power. This feature involves provision of a 9V DC power source over standard Ethernet cabling using a LAN Power Adaptor (LPA) supplied with all Air-Frame products. LAN Powering offers significant cost performance benefits:

• With outdoor models antenna cable runs can be kept to < 1 meter thus reducing to a bare minumum antenna cables losses which are typically the single largest loss in any radio installation.

• All system losses are taken on standard Ethernet cables where signal loss over 100 meters is trivial. By comparison antenna cable loss over the same distance would 30 db or more.

• Antenna size and gain can be kept to the minimum thus substantially reducing antenna and installation costs and lowering total cost of ownership.

• The power source is 9V DC which, in most countries, is regarded as 'non-hazardous' thus eliminating expensive safety procedures or inspections.

• In outdoor installation provision of a suitable power source is often a significant, and costly, problem. Air-Frame elimates this problem entirely thus reducing installation costs.

The provision of LAN Power is another way in which Air-Frame significantly reduces total cost of ownership.
