Air-Frame-100.2 is a high performance, configurable, wireless LAN Access Point (AP) and IP router that provides rugged and reliable performance over distance for use in demanding IP network applications.
Air-Frame-100.2 provides 'Smart-Set' management capability to enable total control over both radio and IP capabilities. During initial installation Air-Frame-100.2 powers up in an operational default mode. Simply plug in a few cables, power the unit and it is operational and can then be configured - either locally OR remotely.
Air-Frame-100.2 is a LAN IP router that provides features and services to suit the most demanding IP network environments. Air-Frame comes as standard with an embedded Proxy server, NAT/PAT, DHCP server, Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities, a Firewall (LockBox) as well a flexible and powerful routing capabilities. It may optionally be configured as a 'Smart-Bridge'.
Air-Frame-100.2 provides wireless LAN communication at 1.2M bit/s. This is marginally faster and considerably more flexible than an ADSL modem solution. The standard compression feature will increase throughput between 2 and 4 times depending on the mix of traffic being handled.
Air-Frame-100.2 systems may use the full available bandwidth or may be configured to use lower bandwidths (input, output or total bandwidth may be controlled). The bandwidth properties may be controlled based on the Time of Day, Day of Week or Type of Day (Week Day, Week-end). Up to 3 separate bandwidth mixes may be defined.
For secure applications the standard encryption module provides either 'on-air' security or end to end VPNs using IPsec (NOT the compromised WEP service).
Using 'HotPools' technology multiple routers may be combined to form single 'links' using the total available wireless bandwidth. A HotPool of 4 Air-Frame-100.2 routers will provide a single link up to 4.8M or over 8M with compression.
The Air-Frame-100.2 radio system uses the license-free 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band and Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology to maximize both the density of systems in a given area (or cell) and the reliability of communication by using the most interference-resistant radio technology available.
In the design of the Air-Frame-100.2 Steam Packet Radio has deliberately sacrificed raw performance for reliability over extended distances of 1 to 20 Km (.5 to 15 miles) without requiring user intervention and configuration of radio parameters.
When operating as an Access Point Air-Frame-100.2 will support any combination of Air-Frame-10.2 or Air-Frame-100.1 models. In this mode the total bandwidth is shared between all the peer systems (including any configured bandwidth limitations).
The rugged construction of the Air-Frame-100.2 and its operating temperature range (0 - 70 C) make it ideally suited for a wide range of applications including Internet Access, Audio and Video conferencing, high speed Telemetry applications ( including video and audio) and other demanding IP network applications.
The standard Air-Frame-100.2 product natively supports point to multipoint configurations using a dynamic peering protocol. Conceptually a point to point network is treated as a multipoint configuration with only one peer. Creating a multipoint configuration is simply a question of adding more products to the network. Many more configuration options are possible.
Air-Frame-100.2 supports both 10baseT (10 M bit/s) and 100baseTX (100 M bit/s) Ethernet LAN. Air-Frame may be used in conjunction with either a Hub (or Switch) or, using a crossed LAN cable, without a Hub (or switch).
